THE
INFINITE MONKEY PROJECT

(IMP for short, if you want)

The infinite monkey theorem explains that if you let a whole bunch of monkeys hit the keys of a whole bunch of typewriters for a whole lot of time, one of them, eventually, will write the entire script of Shakespeare’s “Hamlet”.

It is a very silly theory.

One can speculate why the name is the Infinite Monkey Project, but I don’t really know for sure what the real reason is, so I’m not going to specify. It has something to do with the theorem, but I’m not really sure. Ask my dad if you want. - Isaiah

2002-2010

(-ish)

The Infinite Monkey Project was originally a totally real and completely legit production company. During the early 2000s, the company was run by Drew Brody, a playwright, screenwriter, and producer based in Los Angeles. During this time, Drew won a bunch of awards and produced a whole mess of theatrical stage plays - including world premiere works by Pulitzer-winning playwrights Sam Shepard and Beth Henley -  and other live performances, as well as the 86-minute horror masterpiece “Desert of Blood”. He produced a proof-of-concept short film of Shakespeare’s Henry IV starring Martin Sheen in the title role en route to successfully raising funding for a feature-length adaptation that never quite came to be but would have been amazing. But you know, Hollywood...

On the opening night of IMP’s latest theatrical production, “Little Egypt,” Drew’s really awesome wife Michelle went into labor. Isaiah Brody was born on May 6th, 2006. A short time later, Drew moved away from producing shows that took up all of his evenings and weekends and began his career as a teacher.

And somewhere around there, the first era of The Infinite Monkey Project came to an end.

TEN OR TWELVE YEARS LATER

(nobody really knows for sure)

Isaiah Brody and his best friend Max Vadset met in middle school. Quickly they became fascinated with making skits and films mocking the style of American Noirs from the 1940s. It was sometime then that Isaiah and Max decided to “borrow” the name of Isaiah’s dad's production company in a feeble attempt to seem more “professional”. The name stuck and The Infinite Monkey Project was re-born.

By the time Max and Isaiah were in 10th grade, they had created over 100 short films and recruited new members Jahna Lathan and William Blando. In 11th grade, Isaiah wrote and directed his first feature-length film, “The Last Night in the Life of Death”.

CURRENT DAY

or something

Nah that’s it. You are all caught up. If you read our somewhat interesting story this far, I leave you with nothing but a figurative pat on the back.

*pat, pat.* (figuratively.)
